About
Keyboardist, pianist, synth sculptor and sample artist, Zach Tenorio spent the last 15 years touring, recording, and writing with a wide variety of artists including Kimbra, Jon Anderson (Yes), AC Newman, Perry Farrell and his band, Arc Iris. On stage he's often flanked by rows of keyboards, jumping from one to the next, like a mad scientist in a laboratory of sound. In many of of his projects including Arc Iris, he also plays bass synth on a monstrous analog Moog synthesizer akin to 1970's Stevie Wonder.
In your lesson with Zach, you'll learn:
HARMONY:
"I'm obsessed with jazz harmony and interesting chord voicings and movements within songs. Sometimes making a song sound more exciting is as simple as adding a ninth and moving to a chord outside of the key. I have been gathering harmony tips and tricks over the years and many techniques are actually quite easy to understand."
SOUND SCULPTING:
"My background lives within the cross section of early 70's progressive rock, modern hip hop and pop production, and French composer, Claude Debussy. I'm fascinated with finding not only the perfect sound for a song, but one that is unique and alive. I adore synthesizers and sampling but I also appreciate the subtly of bringing out different sounds in a piano."
CHOP BUILDING:
"There's nothing more exciting than a killer keyboard solo. I'll show you game changer runs, exercises and scales that every keyboardist should know."
MUSIC PRODUCTION:
"I feel that every well rounded musician should also have a basic knowledge of music production. My expertise lies in Protools and using plugins to transform a dull sounding mix into one that lives and breathes."
