About

I'm a professional English Teacher holding a BA in TEFL, an MA in Cultural Management from London South Bank University and a degree in Art & Design. I managed both commercial and charity educational programmes and worked as a tutor and methodologist  for BP, Lafarge JSC and Futureversity  among many others. Overall, I have been teaching English for over 20 years and  use the Communicative Approach aimed at overcoming a language barrier and developing confidence in speaking and understanding English.  My key objective is to help my students find their strengths and practice positive reinforcement in language education.  I believe that all students have their own learning styles and therefore, I make no comparisons from student to student. I structure each student’s program to his/her specific needs and talents. I believe in a well-rounded approach that includes vocabulary practice,  basic grammar structures and pronunciation training.

Learning English should be fun and enjoyable, so I include a lot of speaking  practice based on different games in my programmes.  I believe that every student is unique and allow everyone to learn at their own pace.

Lessons are once, twice or three times per week depending on each student's needs. The purpose of the lesson is for me to:

- assess how the student progressed with practice throughout the week, identify the areas that need attention and help with those areas

- have the student speak as much as possible throughout each lesson while working on new material

While I do use a standard "programme", the pace at which we go, and the emphasis I place on certain skills will vary from student to student.

The important thing to remember is that all I am able to do as a teacher - is supplement the work that is going on in the home.  It is up to the student to practice outside our lessons and to ensure that the investment you are making in your education does not go to waste.

In my lessons I use a combination of several books and my own materials to make it more fun and ensure enough practice. The choice of books depends completely on my students needs.

Examples of books:

English Collocations in Use

Making Sense Phrasal Verbs by Martin Shovel

101 American English Idioms
