About

Hey!! I'm Tracy Mahase currently living in Lesotho but originally from Botswana. I love and live music, especially music education.  I have been playing different instruments from the age of 6!  I have experience with playing marimbas, guitar, piano, violin, recorder, music theory and my main instrument is saxophone.

In 2011 I played in and co-managed a corporate and very diverse band  for 5 years where we played different styles of music ( classical, jazz, afro-jazz, pop, house, and world music). At that time I was also teaching music in a music academy in Botswana called  Kingdom Arts academy where I taught music theory, saxophone, recorder and substituted for piano when necessary.

I then moved to Lesotho by virtue of marriage and started my own music school here where we offer music lessons to schools who want to make music a part of their curriculum, we also offer private lessons to students to students from the age of 5+ and run daily ensembles for our students.  Annually we organise a music camp for young experience and inexperience students who are interested in exploring music in its entirety.

I'm passionate about formal music education so I love teaching students the language of music which is music theory and marrying that with the practical through the use of my recommended music books.  For students who want to take it further than just learning but want grading and certificates, that is the route I encourage for greater sense of accomplishment.  I have many students who have gone this route and passed with distinctions and merits with the internationally accredited Trinity College London.

However, I also love teaching people who are not interested in reading music but want to learn to surprise a loved one or just to fulfill a lifelong dream. Where we learn the foundational techniques, skills and knowledge  to be able to put that into song.

For beginner students in the varying instruments I prefer to use the Progressive Book Series which can be purchased here:

For intermediate students who would like to grade I use the Trinity Books :
