About

After graduating from Berklee in 1987 with a degree in Music Production & Engineering, I moved to NYC to help start the Sam Ash Music Institute.  A year later, I moved to LA and began a 30+year career as a film and tv music composer, editor (Motion Picture Editors Guild), and audio engineer.  See TonyDiMito.com/credits for a partial list of shows, CDs, and projects.  Most notably, in 1995, I started working for Mike Post (composer for numerous tv shows including Law & Order, NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, Rockford Files) at Westwind Media in Burbank.  In 1999, I started working for Carsey-Werner TV (production company for numerous shows including That 70's Show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Rosanne, and Cosby).  I began adding reality shows to my credits within the last 15 years.  I continue to write and produce music for libraries and shows.

I taught at the following institutions:  Berklee College of Music (songwriting and audio departments) Sam Ash Music Institute (assistant director) Trebas Institute of Recording Arts (Hollywood) Burbank Music Academy.  I currently teach in Arizona, part time, in the school district in music and A/V-Theater Tech.

I am looking for students who want careers in music.  I prepare students be teaching all areas of music including acoustics, electronics, theory, performance, computers, music business, composition, notation, music production & engineering.  As the industry has changed, musicians, more and more, need to be prepared for a wider range of jobs.  I teach long lessons and cover many areas that relate to the main topic of the lesson.  Even in starting out, when I teach about tuning, I cover the faster ways to tune, but also complex acoustic concepts like inharmonicity.
