Do you want to learn your favorite song and play from the heart? If the answer is yes , then you are ready for lessons with me! Hello my name is Thayer and I have been giving guitar lessons professionally for over a decade. I have taught students ranging from beginner to advanced, ages ranging from 6 - 60. My main area of expertise is in fingerstyle and classical guitar, however I also teach rock and top 40. I first picked up the guitar when I was 7 years old. At age 30, I have been playing for 23 years now.
I studied with many different teachers throughout my youth. When I was 18, I entered Berklee College Of Music. It was there that I studied with many notable teachers who changed how I view and currently teach the instrument. After four years at Berklee, I graduated in 2013. From there I have done a lot of different types of gigs to support myself as a freelance musician in NYC and abroad. These experiences included being a teacher, soloist, private gig entertainer, pit orchestra musician, session musician, original artist, and much more.

Teaching - Mozart Music ( Woodside, Queens ) , Astoria Music ( Astoria Queens ) , The Music Box School ( Bay Ridge, Brooklyn ) , A Song and A Dance ( Maspeth , Queens) and Freelance in the greater NYC area.

The most important thing I try to pass onto my students is confidence with their instrument. The ability to believe in themselves. If you can believe it, then you can do it. I firmly believe in striking the fine balance between learning your favorite songs / repetoire and learning the important fundamental aspects of music theory. Having fun is key in my classes. I want my students to feel happy, fulfilled and inspired after a lesson. In the end this is all about having fun right ?
