About

Hi there, I'm Shelly – a Vocalist and Voice Teacher living near the Greater Los Angeles Area.

My journey revolves around a deep passion: guiding individuals like you to explore and unlock their vocal potential, no matter where their musical heart lies.

What's my expertise? I specialize in sharing healthy techniques that pave the way for successful singing. Over time, I've had the honor of mentoring more than 50 students across genres such as R&B, Jazz, EDM, Rock, Pop, Gospel, and Musical Theater. It's genuinely humbling to witness their achievements – from gracing Broadway stages and spreading magic at Disney, to leaving their mark at Universal Studios Tokyo and creating their own albums. Some have even embarked on the prestigious Berkeley School of Music Summer Program or aced auditions that set them on their musical paths.

My journey spans over 20 years as a professional singer, and I've dedicated a solid decade to the art of teaching voice. My academic journey includes a B.M. in the Vocal Arts from the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music, as well as an M.A. from California State University, Long Beach.

I've had some truly memorable moments too, like lending my voice to the LA Opera, contributing to the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and cherishing the experiences of a Professional Vocalist in studio sessions.

But here's what matters most: I'm excited about the opportunity to meet you, to learn about your aspirations, and to work alongside you in achieving your vocal goals. Together, let's make your musical ambitions come to life in the most authentic and humble way possible. 🎤🎶

🎵 If you're ready to embark on a singing journey that's all about embracing your true voice, regardless of the music you love, you're in the right place!

I'm a firm believer that singing should feel as good as it sounds. That's why I'm here to help you discover the magic of healthy singing – no stress, no limits, just pure vocal liberation. Say goodbye to those knots of tension, and hello to a voice that soars effortlessly.

My goal? To give you the best of both worlds. I'll geek out with you about the technical bits of singing (don't worry, it's cooler than it sounds), while also making sure you're reconnecting with the joy that got you singing in the first place. Trust me, I've been there – getting lost in the nitpicky stuff and forgetting the sheer fun of it all. That's why I sprinkle in a dash of emotion and get real in our sessions, so your love for singing stays strong and vibrant.

Let's keep things real – this is about finding your voice, improving your skills, and having a blast along the way. Whether you're dreaming of hitting those high notes, rocking the stage, or just jamming in your room, I've got your back.

Ready to make some musical magic? Your voice is unique, and together, we'll make it shine while keeping that passion for singing burning bright. Let's do this! 🔥🎤

I strongly believe that every student has the potential to become a great singer. As a result, my teaching approach is centered around meeting each student where they are in their musical journey. I strive to provide a positive and encouraging environment that fosters growth and empowers my students to realize their full potential.

At the end of each lesson, I provide my students with personalized vocal exercises or songs to study, tailored to their unique needs and aspirations. My aim is to help my students discover their vocal range, control, and power, while also fostering their creativity and self-expression.

To further enhance their training, I refer to vocal technique books as a guide, and I use specialized books to strengthen sight-reading skills where necessary. Through these methods, my students gain a deep understanding of the technical aspects of singing, while also developing their own artistic style.

Overall, my teaching method is not only about learning to sing but also about discovering the joy and fulfillment that comes with expressing oneself through music. I'm inspired by my students' dedication and growth, and I strive to motivate and support them every step of the way.
