About

Member of the Metropolitan Opera Horn Section since 1973, Marlboro Festival, New Hampshire Music Festival, and many more.  Many solo and chamber music recordings,  including Brahms Sonatas (transcribed by me and published by International Music).  I also commissioned, premiered and recorded the Eric Ewazen Horn Sonata with the composer at the keyboard.   I have wide experience in the complete symphonic,  opera, chamber music, and solo repertoire.  I love to teach and have held positions at several schools, although most of my teaching is private.

I focus on all aspects of being a musician who plays the horn, not a horn player who plays music.  This involves all the elements of horn technique, embouchure development and problem solving as well, while enabling the student to sing on the horn, and be as expressive, soulful, and exciting as possible. I am also happy to simply coach a young aspiring professional for specific auditions, or all auditions, covering the many excerpts most likely to be required.  Whatever the individual needs, I use the etudes, exercises, and repertoire necessary to get that person where they want to go.
