Mason Smith

I have been teaching private lessons on all brass instruments for over 10 years. I received my Bachelor's in Music in Music Education from Kent State University, and while studying was the head brass instructor at Woodsy's Music Co. in Kent, OH for 5 years. After graduating, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a trumpet instrumentalist. I played in the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band for four years, with over 300 performances every year including over 100 memorial services as the bugler playing TAPS . After my honorable discharge, I spent 2 years as the Director of Bands for Streetsboro City Schools in Streetsboro, OH - leading all instrumental ensembles from grades 5-12. I left Streetsboro to pursue my Master's in Music in Wind Band Conducting from Kent State University, where I assisted in directing the wind ensemble, concert band, marching band, and basketball pep band. I also had the pleasure of learning from acclaimed conductors Bob Reynolds and Alan McMurray. Since graduating with my MM I have been the Director of Bands at Aurora City School District, teaching grades 6-12 band.
