About

Hi! My name is Mary Gallagher and I've been performing stand-up comedy and improvisation for years. In 2018, I had my national stand-up comedy debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert -- it was thrilling! I'd love to teach you how to create your own stand-up comedy routine. Anyone who wants to do this, can do this. It doesn't matter if you have never even been on a stage and you don't even have to want to be a comic. Stand-up comedy is a great way to increase self-knowledge and confidence... and, it's just so much fun! Together we'll create a safe and relaxed environment for you with where ever you are currently at doing stand-up comedy. Let's get you started on your stand-up comedy routine!

My teaching style is student led and I am also great with children, parents, and seniors. I believe that if you can walk on stage or into a room and tell jokes, you can do anything!

I began doing comedy when I was 19 years old in Wisconsin. I started performing in coffee houses, hotels and bars (sneaking in...shhhh...) with my comedy duo The Flying Napkins. Eventually my comedy partner Amy and I opened for Pauly Shore and Sam Kinison at The Green Bay City Center where 3000 men yelled at us to get naked or get off the stage.  At that point I realized this comedy thing can only get better. After getting my degree in Theatre (that's a sentence that makes many parents angry and confused), I moved to Chicago and studied improvisation and sketch comedy at The Second City of Chicago. I toured nationally for a year with an education-based improv and sketch troupe called "Wavelength". Then I moved to Los Angeles where I began my career as an actor and stand-up comedian.  I have guest-starred on television shows such as Friends, Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, The West Wing, David Spade's Fameless on TruTV, and Prank Encounters on Netflix, just to name a few. I also am in the movies Flightplan with Jodie Foster, How Do You Know with Reese Witherspoon, and Bernard Rose's 2016 remake of Frankenstein.  I have performed in comedy clubs in California, Washington, Michigan, Arizona, and New York, and was an in-house host for the world famous Improv in Los Angeles on Melrose. I've also performed at The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, The Ice House, and am currently a regular at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank and Comedy Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California. I have performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Ellen.  I have hosted three television shows: The Short Show on E! Networks, World Cup Comedy on PAX-TV, and Faux Pause on Game Show Network.

Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA

I use methods where we will investigate and explore who you truly are today, what you want to say to the world, and what is so very unique and special about you. (Don't worry, if you have no idea, you will when we're done!)
