About

I am a Professional Flutist based in Jacksonville, Florida. I hold my Bachelor's degree (2017) and Master's degree (2019)  in Flute Performance from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. As a flutist of 15+ years, I have participated in numerous ensembles and chamber groups on both flute and piccolo, have given many solo recitals and have taught lessons to students from a variety of levels and backgrounds.

I have experience with a variety of styles including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Extended Techniques/Contemporary.  I am passionate about helping students find their interests and strengths within the world of the flute!

I aspire to encourage each individual student to open their mind to knowledge. The study of music is much more than learning an instrument and gives valuable life experience to those involved!

My primary goals in my teaching are:

  •  To provide students with the necessary tools to develop practice and performance techniques that are unique to each flute student

  • To inspire confidence within my students

  • To encourage students to develop skills that will allow them to learn how to be self-sufficient

In lessons, students will have the opportunity to develop skills and techniques catered to their individual needs and goals for areas such as practicing, performing, and taking auditions. When students are given the opportunity to learn in a judgment-free zone, they are able to explore areas outside of their established comfort zone to expand their knowledge and find their own unique methods of practicing and performing.

When I began my studies in music, I had no idea how much I would learn about myself as a person through learning how to play my instrument. Performing music through our instruments exposes a new layer of our individual personalities and allows us to express ourselves through our own unique and personal channels. As a teacher, I desire to encourage students to dig deep into learning who they are and encourage their development, individual personalities, and characteristics.

Lastly, as a teacher, I believe in providing a nurturing and encouraging environment for students in order for them to gain confidence in their abilities, and ultimately confidence in who they are in the world. I wish for my students to each identify short and long-term musical goals they wish to reach and provide checkpoints to see their progress, identify setbacks, adjust short term goals, and develop a sense of confidence for progressing in their goals and dreams.
