Kynan Horton-Thomas
About
My Name is Kynan Horton-Thomas. I am a current member of the Virginia Symphony and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. Previously I was Principal Bass of the Mansfield Symphony; section bass in the Canton Symphony and in the Youngstown symphony. I have also made guest appearances with Bourbon Baroque, Apollo's Fire, City Music Cleveland, and Alarm Will Sound.
I also teach electric bass! I am currently a member of 2 bands: Lapsarian- a progressive metal and; and Not Ready for Monday- a 90's cover music band. I have previously played in the Cleveland based funk band Space Love. In the past I have performed with the rapper Archie Green, where we were the first Hip Hop performance act in Severance Hall.
I have been teaching for 5 years. I always start by finding the student's interest, level of playing, and motivation. Every student is different, and thus requires a different approach to teaching.
Achievements include- winning auditions with the Virginia Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, and the Canton Symphony. I also performed in the first hip hop act in Severance Hall.
