About

I am a guitar player, instructor and builder out of Austin, Texas. I graduated from McNally Smith College of Music in 1996, at the top of my class. I have been touring across the USA and Canada ever since; playing in corporate bands, live shows, and even creative projects in the studio.

It all started in 1987, when I saw my dad play a gig for the first time. Shortly after, I decided to start taking guitar lessons.

My guitar teacher, who I looked up to as a mentor, eventually asked if I had thought about going to school for guitar or becoming a professional player... So eventually I did just that, and have now been playing professionally for 25 years.

After I graduated from McNally Smith College of music  I spent several years on the road touring casinos, fairs and festivals. I have opened up for several national acts throughout the years such as the Little River Band (Cowboys, Laramie, Wyoming ), Diamond  Rio ( North Dakota State fair) and Patty Loveless (Michigan International Speedway).

I have also played in several historic clubs like Tootsies in Nashville, Tennessee, and Famous Door in New Orleans, Louisiana. The concert that had my biggest memories would be the Merritt Mountain Music Festival in (Merritt, BC, Canada). With about 10,000 people and a huge production with cameras, sound and other accommodations,  the crowd was amazing.

I settled in Minot, North Dakota, where I taught private lessons at Northwest Music and Eckroth Music (they were the big music stores in Minot at the time), until I was able to have my own teaching studio.

I'm dedicated to assisting aspiring guitarists hone in on their skills. Not only can I teach you how to play, I can also teach how to properly maintain and set up your instrument, due to my many years of training and experience in building guitars too.

I have a simple and relatable teaching style.

I can teach you how to read music, learn songs by ear, and even how to improvise for those times when you're up on stage.

My teaching style is based on each individual student. We'll first figure out where your skill level and interests are. Then we'll create a lesson to meet you where you're at and where you want to go as a musician.

The main thing is to make this journey of playing music fun, while making giant improvements.
