About
Hi! My name is Kendra. I have been professionally teaching and performing music for over 30 years in studio and online (since 2014). My career in teaching, performing in various venues, and as a studio artist has enabled me to tailor each students learning experience and success in meeting their goals.
My love of music and study of violin and viola began at an early age. I pursued my performance studies with scholarship awards from the University of Colorado and abroad at the University of Brandon in Canada. My many years of classical study along with branching out into alternative styles over 40 years of playing have provided the basis for my teaching approach. This includes a strong technical approach along with a basic understanding of music reading and theory.
Hendersonville Symphony, Brevard Philharmonic, Four Seasons Orchestra, Blue Ridge Community Orchestra, The Nelson Quartet, Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque, Boulder Opera Company, Boulder Baroque, Parlour Players.
I use multiple sources of curricula along with supplemental music, etudes, and scale books. These include Suzuki, O'Connor, and Barber for the basics in understanding music and approach. With an avid interest in all genres, I have accumulated a vast library of sources including Irish, Latin, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Bluegrass, Folk, Blues, and more.
