Joshua Eiger is a composer, lyricist, and vocalist who received his B.A. in Music from the University of Virginia and graduated with high distinction in May of 2022. In his time at UVA, Joshua studied classical voice and piano and has performed with the University Singers, Chamber Singers, Hoos in the Stairwell, Spectrum Theater, and First Year Players. In the Virginia NATS Singing Competition, Joshua placed first in musical theater in 2020 and received honors in the classical category. At the direction of Dr. Mirabella Yang, Joshua was in a production of Die Zauberflöte in the Summer of 2019. Joshua has participated in masterclasses with Tony Award Winner Jessie Mueller, and Broadway actors Ciara Rene and Ben Bogen. In February 2020, Joshua performed in the REACH at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts singing and was featured as a soloist in the Neapolitan favorite, “Funiculi, Funicula.” Joshua recently composed and directed an original musical titled Believer: A Cult Musical, which is now available on Spotify. He received Departmental Recognition from UVA’s McIntire Department of Music for his excellence in writing Believer, which was produced at UVA. Josh is starting his M.A. in Writing and Design for Musical Theater at Berklee NYC.
I meet students where they are, working on some repertoire they select while throwing in some of my own selections. My students generally focus on vowel shape, vocal placement, breathing technique, and expanding range through knowledge of the head, chest, and mix voices (including belting)
My lessons always include a warmup for the first 10-20 minutes going through different exercises for range expansion and different vowel shapes and then will focus on either one or two songs that we will work on over a period of weeks for the remainder of the lesson to apply the concepts we learn in the exercises to the songs.

I am a very flexible and open teacher interested in teaching what my students are curious and interested in but not afraid to push students out of their comfort zones. I typically do not teach from a specific text or book.
