Hello, I am a guitar player, composer and teacher. I´ve studied in ESMAE (Porto, Portugal) where i got a college degree in Jazz Guitar and master degree in Music Education (ESE-ESMAE).
I´ve been an active musician and teacher since 2008, and these days I am composing and producing for the project SONO and teaching in Professional Jazz Course of Conservatório de Musica da Jobra.
I believe that your music identity comes from finding and collecting patterns in the music you like. So you choose what songs or music to learn and develop.
The method I often use is to dissect the songs you choose to learn, and through that you can learn:
1- The instrument technic - How to play it and what is used in that song (Chords, Scales, melodies, harmonic progressions)
2- How music functions and how to manipulate it - Analyzing the Structure, Arrangement, Tonal Functions of a song.
3- How to develop your musical ear - Transcribing and ear training methods to become a more active listener and a complete musician.
