I started classical piano at the age of 6 years old at the Austral University Conservatory of Chile. Here I studied for 10 years under the guidance of Ximena Cabello, later took private lessons with Kenya Godoy (former Claudio Arrau Student).
Later I followed the steps oriented to music production while developing my songwriting skills. I studied a Bachelors degree in Professional Music at Berklee College of Music where I focused on vocal technique training and music production. During this period I had the opportunity to work with Paula Cole ( Grammy winner) , Annette Philipp ( Women of the World singer and creative director), Janie Barnet ( New Yorker folk Singer-songwriter). I have also shared stage with renewed Grammy winning artist AR Rahman and Jacob Collier.
Teaching experience I have developed for the past ten years. I have taught beginner level classic piano technique, popular piano accompaniment for songwriters, basic chord and music theory. I have prepared students for their auditions with a full acceptance rate. I must say my favorite is to guide people to discover their instrument, specially from a creative aspect. Songwriting or creative writing definitely comes under my curriculum. I like to get to know my students personally and build their personalized curriculum accordingly to their personal goals and needs.
I love to guide my students into the process of using music to express themselves. I work individually one on one lessons and I like to understand the context you come from and what your goals are for learning this craft.
Classical Piano : If you have no knowledge at all we will be starting from basics of back posture, finger technique abilities and reading rhythmically and melodically.
if you have basic knowledge : we will be applying reading and finger techniques to enhance the repertoire
if you have experience knowledge : we will work on performance and music connection with the repertoire to be developed. Dynamics, expression tools,style development, etc.
Voice:
Starting from scratch : pitch recognition work, association of sound projection with body technique, discover your voice, repertoire
If Intermediate knowledge : Pitch correction if necessary, rhythm , melody phrasing, repertoire development.
If advance knowledge : Performance skills, dynamics usage focused on style, writing your own song as a singer ( optional) , recording techniques as a singer (optional)
BA in Professional Music at Berklee College of Music.
Classical Piano : My repertoire includes, Bach, Beethoven, Clementi Sonatas, Hanon, Czerny, Debussy, Schuman, etc. All this accordingly to skill development. Sometimes I require parents to buy the books which aren't so expensive, I also send pdf's if needed.
Voice : Contemporary voice technique, chest voices development, head voice development, falsetto, speech level vocals accordingly. We use music we like accordingly to the goals ,style and desired repertoire.
