Called an “incredible horn player” with “perfect sound” by MaineToday, Emma Stanley is a soulful, seasoned performer on trumpet, piano, and voice. Based in Portland, Maine, Emma plays locally and regionally as a solo artist and with multiple groups, currently including Gina & The Red Eye Flight Crew, The Fogcutters, Native Isles, and OC and the Offbeats.
A recently active touring musician, Emma has completed over 7 seasons of National Tours with productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, and Spamalot, performing all over the country with an average of over 300 shows a year. She has also performed with and backed International acts such as Guster, The Manhattan Transfer, DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Cyril Neville (The Meters), John Popper (Blues Traveler), and has had the privilege to study with greats such as Ingrid Jensen, Michael Formenak, Gary Thomas, and Christine Fawson.
While a student at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Emma studied abroad in Singapore and performed there as the USA representative for Jazz Trumpet in the International Youth Olympics Opening Ceremony. After graduating from Peabody with a Bachelor of Music degree in classical trumpet performance, Emma set sail with Royal Caribbean, playing nightly big band, jazz, and production shows aboard cruise ships. Between stints playing theaters across the country and gigging around New England, Emma has played in the pit orchestras for numerous shows at the Ogunquit Playhouse and Maine State Music Theater. Emma is also a two-time Young Stars of Maine awardee, winning the 2012 Ezra Rachlin Prize for Excellence in classical trumpet, and the 2007 Nathan E. Corning Jazz Prize for jazz trumpet.
In total, Emma has so far performed in all 50 U.S. states and on 5 continents, and still counting!
