About

Singing is so much more than using the breath to create sound. Singing is SOUL work! My name is Emily, and as a teacher I am here to help you find your voice in a way that is both vocally efficient and exciting! I taught as an adjunct voice professor at New York University and local community college, but have recently been putting my focus towards my private studio. I have experience teaching students of all ages and levels, and would love to work with you!

In addition to a vocal pedagogue, I am a singing voice specialist, or vocologist in training. With this, I have experience helping with the habilitation of injured voice users through voice lessons. Not only does my knowledge and experience with music and performing serve me, but under the direction of a laryngologists, notable vocologists, and speech language pathologists, my training in anatomy and physiology of the voice definitely influences my teaching.

I got my BM in vocal performance, focusing on classical music, at Methodist University with the full-tuition music scholarship. I then obtained a dual master's degree from NYU in vocal performance: musical theatre and vocal pedagogy. My experience with classical music, musical theatre, and other vocal styles allows me to help students with a wide variety of vocal goals and musical interests.

Each singer has a unique instrument and it is my job to tailor my approach to fit the needs of the singer in front of me. Because of this, teaching style may vary between students. Ultimately, I teach in a way that provides students with the tools to not only make discoveries, but also improve and gain a deeper understanding of their voice.
