About

Elizabeth Patterson is a classical soprano and a voice teacher. Raised in Pennsylvania by a family of accordionists, she resisted the family tradition and pursued her love of singing.  She has since settled down in South San Francisco with her husband, John, and her cat, Bubby.

Elizabeth performs regularly in operas throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. She has sung with Opera Cultura, Phénix Opera, Just Opera, Teatro Mistral, Verismo Opera, West Bay Opera Chorus, and Valhalla Productions. Elizabeth is best known for her regular appearances with Opera Cultura as the sly seductress Carmela in La Llorona. Her other roles include Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Ernestina (L'Occasione Fa il Ladro), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), First Witch (Dido and Aeneas), Anna Gomez (The Consul), Giulia (La Scala di Seta), Chiquita (Coyotes and Rabbits), Waldvogel (Siegfried), Monica (The Medium), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), and Gerhilde (Die Walküre).

Elizabeth maintains a private voice studio of 20+ students. Her clients include adults and children, singing a variety of styles from rock to opera. Her students have pursued singing professionally, gone on to university arts programs, and sung in their communities.

Elizabeth holds a Master of Music degree from Duquesne University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Gettysburg College.

If you want a kind and honest teacher, this is the studio for you. Elizabeth offers constructive feedback, telling you what she hears, good and bad. She makes sure to recognize moments of growth so you can appreciate your own progress.

Your voice lessons are a personalized experience. Elizabeth adapts her teaching method to your learning style and personality.  She carefully tailors exercises and repertoire to address your goals. Not sure of your goals yet? That's okay, too. Elizabeth will set goals for you.
