About
Hi! I have been teaching music lessons for about 10 years. My experience has been with children ages 2-12. I began music lessons myself at the age of 6. My first instrument was flute and I studied flute in college. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's in music. For my Bachelor's I also studied English. After school I decided to pursue teaching music and learned to teach beginner music for piano, violin, guitar, and drum. I have taught private lessons, ensemble classes, and music camps. I have experience working with children of all kinds including those with disabilities, behavioral issues, and different cultural backgrounds.
I have a passion for music and I believe anyone can learn music. My teaching style is to start with what the student knows and pick out the curriculum that best matches the student. I teach at the student's pace and encourage creativity, incorporating the student's dreams and goals. I often have a structure to the lesson with warmups, review, new material, some theory, and a fun song.
