About

I have played piano since I was five years old and taught piano for over 9 years. I am open to teaching improvisation and gig preperations as well as all forms of contemporary, and classical techniques.  From beginning to advanced students, I have a structured and objective approach that guarantees improvement with practice.  I have an extensive background in music theory and composition and am currently working towards a bachelors degree in music.

I utilize an adaptive teaching style depending on the age and personality of each student. I believe that a piano teacher should stay with a student for an extended period, especially when they are first beginning. I am laid back, but I make it clear to my students that if they don't put in the time required they won't succeed. My church music positions have included:

Director of Music

Oct 2020 - Present - First Presbyterian Church

I am in charge of planning and overseeing the music program, as well as perform regularly at services.

Principal Organist

Dec 2019 - Oct 2020 - St. Luke Catholic Church

I led the congregational singing at the organ for three weekly services.

Organist and Director of Children's Music

Apr 2018 - Aug 2019 - First United Methodist Church Paris, TN

I played the organ for the church as well as took part in planning worship music and events.

Church Musician

Jan 2015 - Apr 2018 - First Presbyterian Church

I played the piano and organ for the church as well as take part in planning worship music and events.

Church Organist - 5 years Teaching Piano - 7 years, Completed summer study and recitals through the American Guild of Organist at the Cincinnati Conservatory 2016, Valparaiso University 2016, and the University of Indianapolis 2015

Depending on the skill level and preferences of the students as the develop, I usually start with the Bastein or Faber curriculum. I have tried dozens of books, but these work best in my expereince and they are not very expensive. For more advanced students, I have mainly specialized in the works of J.S. Bach, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Frederic Chopin, and Franz Liszt on the piano. On the organ, I have specialized in J.S. Bach, Eugene Gigout, Charles-Marie Widor, and Cesar Franck.
