About

Alexandra has a Bachelor's of Violin Performance from Montclair State University and a Master's of Viola Performance from Indiana University - Jacob's School of Music.  There she studied with Ed Gazouleas, a former member of the Boston Symphony, and currently the Artistic Director at The Curtis Institute of Music.  During her studies at IU, she took pedagogy classes specializing in the Suzuki method with renowned instructors Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner.   There she taught students from the university's String Academy in which she shadowed instructors and taught individual lessons.   Alexandra had been teaching since 2016 and has only furthered her expertise since then.

Though Alexandra's primary instrument is viola, she has experience playing in a variety of settings such as orchestra, chamber music, and solo on both violin and viola.  She has taught students of all ages beginning at 6.  She lays down an excellent foundation for her beginner students and is extremely detail oriented.

I customize my lessons to every student's learning style and playing level.  I reference a lot of my teaching from the Suzuki method, however, I have a plethora of tooIs outside of it that can be used in lessons if needed.  I have taught students from a variety of playing backgrounds and ages and use my creativity to make the lesson engaging and adaptable to their needs.   During my undergrad, I had 7 different teachers due to many changing circumstances, therefore, I am familiar with a variety of teaching styles.
