About

Adri started playing the violin at age six.  She participated in numerous orchestras during her school career, of which the Northern-Transvaal Youth Orchestra, TED Youth Orchestra (now Sinfonia Juventi), as well as the National Youth Orchestra. She began her B. Mus studies (violin) at the University of Pretoria (1992) and received tuition from Prof. Alan Solomon as well as Prof. Zanta Hofmeyr. She completed her B. Mus degree in violin, music history and music theory in 1996 under the legendary mentorship of the late Prof. Derek Ochse at the University of the Free State. During this period Adri actively played violin in the Free State Symphony Orchestra, Consortium Musicum Chamber ensemble as well as the National Chamber Orchestra. She started her teaching career in Bloemfontein at the Free State Musicon during 1996 where she also conducted and trained the beginner string orchestra. Besides from teaching privately she has also taught violin, recorder, keyboard, guitar and piano at Universitas Primêr (Tjokkies) in Bloemfontein. She is an accredited Unisa Music Teacher as well as a member of the South African Society of Music teachers (SAVMO). Adri accepted the position as violin lecturer for music as subject at Hoërskool Waterkloof in February 2015. She is the founder of the Klofies Arco Musicum String ensemble which performed with great success at Centurion Arts Festival, The Atterbury Theatre as well as The Brooklyn Theatre during 2015. Adri also taught violin, piano, and keyboard at Stella Musica Centre at Laerskool Elarduspark. She was appointed as Music Educator at Irene Primary School in 2017-2021. She currently holds the position as instructional designer and coordinator at a private educational institution.

Adri often performs with contemporary artists such as Louis-John Hussleman, Phillip Kotze, Petronel Baard, the late Piet Botha as well as Marica Barnard.

She teaches young learners the art of music with a passionate, holistic and interesting approach.
